We are now using ShareFile to provide our clients with a quick and easy way to access documents through cloud-based file-sharing. With ShareFile, we have created a secure client portal which will allow you to easily access, upload, edit, and collaborate on your documents at any time by simply logging in to your account or clicking on a link that you are provided.

Activating Your Account

When you are ready to access ShareFile for the first time, you will need to activate your account. You’ll receive an email from ShareFile Support which will direct you to activate your New Client Account.

  1. Simply open the email and click on the blue ACTIVATE ACCOUNT button or embed the link into your web browser.   
  2. Confirm your first and last name along with your company, if you have one.
  3. Click the gray CONTINUE button.
  4. Create a password for your account.
  5. Click the SAVE AND SIGN IN button.

How To Log In

If you don’t have an active ShareFile account, you will need to contact Capital Clarity to get one.

  1. Go to and click the LOG IN button at the top right corner of the page.

  2. Enter your email address and password and click the LOG IN button.

How To Navigate Your Account Features

After logging in, you’ll be taken to your FOLDERS menu which is the first page every user will see. This is where you will spend most of your time. However, it’s important to know how to navigate the other important features which you may need.

You may notice the toolbar on the left side of your screen:

  • Your account home page
  • Customize by adding a profile picture
  • Copy the sign-in link and save where you prefer
  • Access shared and favorites folders
  • Access recent files
  • Where you access and upload your personal and business files
  • Where your accountant manage specific tasks for clients
  • If need to access, you will receive an email request
  • For use by your accountant
  • Change your password
  • Add or edit your email address
  • Enable increased security to access your account
  • Connect account using an FTP client

How To Access and Upload Files

Since you are a client, your folder will be located in the SHARED FOLDERS section of your account.

You will have a folder with your name on it for your personal financial information. If you have a business, you will have a separate folder for each one as well.

To access your files:

  1. Go to the folder that will lead you to the information you need.

    Example: To find an Annual Report that was completed in 2018 for your business, go to the business folder Client Access folder Annual Reports folder 2018 folder.

To upload new files

  1. Open the PARENT FOLDER for that account.

    If the files are for your personal finances, you’ll need to open the folder with your name on it. If it’s for your business finances, then open your business’ folder.

  2. Click on the CLIENT ACCESS folder.

    This is where you will upload your files.


    Capital Clarity will organize your files into the right subfolders. You will only need to upload your files directly into the Client Access Folder. By doing so, your accountant will see the new files you have uploaded so they can be organized into their correct subfolders.

  3. Click on the blue PLUS button on the upper right side of the page.

    This will reveal a dropdown menu.

  4. Click the UPLOAD link which will take you to a file uploader.

  5. Drag your files directly into the box.

    You can also delete individual items, edit an item, clear all of the items, and add more files from another location.

  6. Once all of the files are added, click on the blue UPLOAD button located at the bottom left corner of your screen.

    If you accidentally upload the wrong file, simply click on the box next to the file to create a blue check. A new menu will appear, and you can click on the TRASH button to delete it.

How To Use the ShareFile Desktop App

Similar to Dropbox, ShareFile has a desktop app which will allow you to access and upload files directly from your computer so that you don’t have to log in to your account via the web every time.

  1. Log in to your account in your web browser.
  2. Click on the APPS link on the upper right corner of your screen.
  3. Choose the correct app for your system – either Windows or MAC.
  4. Click the blue DOWNLOAD button.
  5. Click the file that appears at the bottom of your web browser.
  6. Follow your system’s download instructions

    ShareFile’s parent company is named Citrix

  7. Enter your account information in the pop-up window

    Your account subdomain is capitalclarityco

  8. Sign in using your email address and password that have been created for this account

    You may have to restart your computer for the application to be accessible

  9. You will now see the application in your system browser. It will look like a file storage folder.

  10. Click on the correct parent folder and drag your files into it

    Do not create any subfolders or upload anywhere else, but within the CLIENT ACCESS folder in your parent folder

  11. Once the files are loaded, you will see a green check symbol

How To Use the ShareFile Mobile App

Using ShareFile on your mobile device can be useful in many cases, but it is most useful for those who have paper versions of their documents. The mobile app will allow you to use your phone to scan images of those papers and then uploaded that way.

  1. Download the mobile app from the Apple Store or Google Play StoreThe app is called CITRIX FILES (Citrix is the name of the parent company)
  2. Open the app and enter your account subdomain. Then click CONTINUE.Your account subdomain is capitalclarityco
  3. Log in with the email address and password associated with your accountOnce you sign in, you’ll have access to the same folders as you would from the Desktop App and online via your web browser.
  4. Access your files by clicking on the correct parent folders and subfolders just like you would from your account online
  5. To upload a file, click on the correct parent folder, then CLIENT ACCESS folder
    Do not create any subfolders or upload anywhere else, but within the CLIENT ACCESS folder in your parent folder
  6. Click on the blue PLUS bottom on the bottom right of your screen.

    Choose the correct image from where it is located within your mobile deviceOR

    Take a photo of a document for which you don’t already have an image

  8. Make sure all of the images you’d like upload have a blue check on their image.
  9. Once you have selected your image, click the NEXT button at the top of your screen.
  10. Rename the image if needed and click the blue UPLOAD button.Your image will now be accessible within your account. Repeat the process as needed.
